Salomon XR Crossmax Neutral CS W Trail running shoe
This new trail running shoe by Salomon is a high mileage training shoe for neutral runners who want one shoe from door to trail.
Salomon XR Crossmax Neutral CS (Climashield) is a neutral shoe also called cushion shoes. These are best suited to people with an efficient footstrike (due to a higher rigid arch) that need an emphasis on cushion and flexibility.
The XR is for higher mileage runners who transition between trail and pavement and want a neutral shoe. Perfect fit comes from Salomon's Sensiflex, soft reinforcement on the ball of the foot, and the Sensifit system to wrap around the upper instep precisely. An Oversized Tendon midsole component provides a smooth cushioned ride with energy return for long runs. And a new chevron pattern Contagrip outsole ensures precise grip on virtually any surface. The neutral version has a 3 piece midsole with a symmetrical shape, and fully welded sensifit upper.
Offroad or "trail" shoes offer increased outsole traction and uppers with toe bumpers and reinforced stitching for more durability. The foot often sits slightly lower to the ground than usual for stability and responsiveness. Offroad shoes often have less cushioning than a road shoe because they're designed for softer surfaces. You should choose offroad shoes if you do a lot of off-road running and need shoes with extra traction, more durable uppers and extra protection from the terrain.
